Koshertopia has confirmed that Gourmet by Forte, located at 1529 York Avenue (between 80th and 81st) is now open. Primarily a take-out deli, Gourmet by Forte chefs prepare dishes daily that are reminiscent of Mom’s home cooking. There is also seating available for dine in service. Gourmet by Forte is under the supervision of the Kof-K.

Rectangles, located at 1431 1st Avenue has closed its doors permanently. After a brief closure by the Department of Health, Koshertopia has confirmed that the Yemenite restaurant will no longer be open for business.

This is the week that 2nd Ave Deli opens their second store. Koshertopia has confirmed that 2nd Ave Deli located, not on 2nd Avenue but at 1442 First Avenue (corner of 75th Street) opens today. The pastrami, matzo ball and rugelach recipes stay the same – just the location is new.

We know it’s the middle of the 9 days, but Koshertopia is happy to share that Burger Zone, located at 1830 2nd Avenue (Between 94th & 95th Streets) will re-open under new ownership next week. The restaurant will be glatt kosher, under the supervision of the Vaad HaKashrus of Flatbush. The Burger Zone will offer a wide selection of burgers, chicken, salad, sliders, wings and a full delicatessen.

Back in 2010 we were first to share the news that Manhattan’s famous 2nd Ave Deli was opening its second location on the Upper East Side. Koshertopia has confirmed that the Deli is close to opening at 1442 First Avenue (at 75th St.). Kosher Dining options in the Upper East Side are once again expanding. Like the 33rd Street location, the new Deli will be under the Supervision of the Cup K (Rabbi Israel Mayer Steinberg).

It seems that the revolving door of restaurants continues to turn. What was previously Kolette’s Kitchen on Lexington and 56th Street will soon be a second location for the popular falafel place Soom Soom whose first home is located on the Upper West Side.

The popular vegetarian chain, Maoz is opening a new location on Central Park. The new location willl be at 106th and 5th Ave, open Monday to Sunday. Maoz is famous for their freshly baked pita pockets filled with steaming hot falafel balls, eggplant, hummus, and signature salads.
