The fairy has landed in New City! Koshertopia has confirmed that the elusive Challah Fairy has opened her first sit down restaurant located at 170 North Main Street. The dairy restaurant can seat up to 20 and offers a variety of homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, cookies and babka, plus bagels and the most divine Challah Fairy French toast. The store is under the supervision of Rabbi Zushe Blech.

The cuisine with the most kosher representation in the city hast been reduced by one. Dakshin Kosher, located at 1154 1st Avenue on the Upper East Side has closed its doors permanently. If you are an Indian fan – don’t fear, there are plenty more options!

Koshertopia has confirmed that the new Crisp is open, opposite Greeley square, at 1271 Broadway (32nd St. across from Greeley Square Park). The latest store is promoting its opening with free falafel to all those who walk-by. Offering a combo of centuries-old Mediterranean food favorites with today’s nutrition-packed add-ins. Crisp is under the supervision of the Cup K.

That’s one for the sheriff – Koshertopia has confirmed that the popular upscale La Carne Grill located at 340 Lexington Avenue has closed its doors by order of the sheriff. It is still unclear whether this closure will be permanent.

Back in early January we broke the story that the first kosher ‘Shake Shack’ style restaurant was coming to Teaneck. We are happy to report it is nearly ready. Koshertopia has confirmed that the Gotham Burger Company located at 1383 Queen Anne Road is close to completion. Gotham promises not to be your typical burger joint, priding itself of freshness and quality ingredients.

Third time’s a charm – Jerusalem Cafe (formerly Broadway’s iconic Jerusalem II) has opened at 35 West 36th St (between Fifth & 6th). The location was the former home of Mike’s Pizza and Aroma NYC, both of which were forced to close their doors after short stints. The new Jerusalem Cafe offers lunch favorites such as pizza, salads and more. The store is supervised by the OK.

Koshertopia has learned that the UWS kosher scene is about to grow again! Grill 212, a new Israeli Style restaurant, is near completion at 212 West 80th Street (between Amsterdam Ave & Broadway). The restaurant will feature a full Israeli Grill, Steaks Salads and authentic middle eastern soups.

With having just opened it’s third location in Manhattan, Soom Soom is close to rival Mendys’ for the largest kosher restaurant chain in the city. Koshertopia has confirmed that Soom Soom has opened at 8 West 46th (between Fifth & Sixth Avenue). Located close to the popular Kosher Deluxe, Soom Soom offers falafel & sabich sandwiches, soups and a healthy Israeli salad bar. The restaurant is supervised by Rabbi Aaron D. Mehlman, National Kosher Supervision.

Midtown Kosher is about to change again…Koshertopia has confirmed that the long standing midtown pizza favorite Jerusalem Two (J2) is about to change to Jerusalem Cafe. Set to open on February 29th at 25 West 36th St (between Fifth & 6th), Jerusalem Cafe will offer salads, wraps, sushi, pizza and more.
