The legendary bagel maker has closed it’s West 46th Street factory. Koshertopia has confirmed that the iconic bagel factory just off the West Side Highway is no longer operational. Sources informed Koshertopia that the closure was due to an issue with the landlord. This was the last location of H&H open after their UWS location closed last year.
The doors open today at the much awaited Prime Butcher Baker. Located at 1572 2nd Avenue (between 81st and 82nd), the new store is under the supervision of the Orthodox Union (OU). The store boasts a wide selection of organic products, fish, delicious home-style foods, and freshly baked pastries and breads. The butcher will include selections of fine cut meats from regions all around the world. But possibly the most exciting element of the restaurant is the “BB Table” – a private intimate table for 12 available with prior reservation each night after close of the store.
Yes, you read correctly. The popular authentic Italian pizza chain, Bravo Pizza, in midtown is now kosher. The store located at 1367 Broadway (corner of 37th St.) is under the supervision of the OK and is Cholov Yisrael. This is the first of the Bravo chain to come under Supervision. Bravo is known for their deep dish pies, calzones, heroes, pastas and many more lunch favorites.
Another Kosher eatery has been forced to close it doors. Green Olive (45th St. & 2nd Ave.) is temporarily closed. Koshertopia has learned that the store will re-open in the coming few days under a new name, ‘Darna To Go’. The restaurant is being taken over by the same proprietor as the popular UWS restaurant Darna which closed last year.
Koshertopia has learned that construction is progressing on schedule for the new 4,000 square foot upscale kosher restaurant Jezebel in Soho. The new restaurant will be split on two levels and promises to raise the bar for kosher dining in New York is set to open on May 1st. The owners are calling their new endevour the ‘kosher equivalent of Cipriani’ suggesting that they are going to raise the bar for kosher restaurant in Manhattan.

Koshertopia has confirmed that Gourmet by Forte, located at 1529 York Avenue (between 80th and 81st) is now open. Primarily a take-out deli, Gourmet by Forte chefs prepare dishes daily that are reminiscent of Mom’s home cooking. There is also seating available for dine in service. Gourmet by Forte is under the supervision of the Kof-K.
Another Hummus Kitchen? Yes! Koshertopia has confirmed that a new location will be opening at 2 West 14th Street (Corner of 5th Ave. & 14th St.). This new location, as well as all other locations are supervised under the International Kosher Council (IKC)
