What Koshertopia has to say:
Golan Heights, located in Washington Heights, offers a great variety of Israeli/Middle Eastern food, including a schwarma to knock your socks off, that will be sure to leave you full and content. They offer all of their options in a laffa, pita, or plate, and you can't go wrong whichever way you choose. They make the food fresh and fast, so if you are ever in the mood for a quick bite, Golan Heights is a great choice.

It's always wonderful when the fast food that is available after 11pm is fresh, affordable, and, for me, kosher and vegan! This place has delicious fresh made falafel. We ordered it in the laffa - the guy who made it piled in every single vegetable and sauced we asked for, including french fries and two kinds of cabbage! The lentil soup wasn't hot or salty enough for me, but it was still quite tasty. We had a large french fries which were delicious. It was unfortunate how sticky the ketchup bottle was, but I was prepared with extra napkins so it didn't bother me much. I can't comment on the meat options, but apparently their homemade chicken fingers are amazing. It's not so much a place to go for atmosphere, but definitely the place to go for high quality food anytime of day or as late as 1am.

As originally reviewed on Kosher-NY:
The first thing a friend told me about the Golan Heights is that she would need
her (male) friend to go with her and order. When I asked why, she shrugged and
said "Sometimes it's a little hard to get your order in." How right she was.
Though I am a food enthusiast whose excitement nearly always translates into
prompt service, I watched my more Americanized companion stand back like a
wallflower and never get served. I intervened however, and we sat down to a
really fresh and hearty meal. My companion ordered a steak platter with fries.
The (ample) steak (steak is somewhat of a misnomer; "pounded beef" might be a
more accurate description) came out hot and was served with two sides. While the
conventional American coleslaw (with mayonaisse) looked very disappointing, the
fresh purple cabbage slaw (without mayo) was very serviceable; the shavings were
a little large, but the dressing was perfect. The pickled cooked hot carrots (an
Israeli specialty) were ideal; soft, spicy, and tangy - with exactly the subtle
cumin undertone they are supposed to have. The "Israeli Salad" was mushy from
sitting too long in too much brine, but the cucumber slices with onion were
pristine. My order, falafel in a laffa with chips, which came with the chips
(french fries) inside the laffa, was good, though the falafel mix itself was not
the best I have had; it lacked flavor and the balls did not retain their
crispness in the sandwich. Still, the tahini was very fresh, and the hot sauce
was a dream; full of complex side-flavors, and the layering technique used by
the servers gave the sandwich a varied internal architecture. On an earlier
occassion, I tasted the shwarma, which was fine, though it wasn't the most
tender I have ever eaten, and, like the falafel, lacked something in spice. The
portions are incredibly ample, and what the grill lacks in charm it makes up for
in adept service of a few simple classics, prepared with the kind of artless
skill that makes street food (even when it's indoors) a perennial favorite.
First rate!
